You can achieve your goal of becoming a dental assistant by attending a dental assistant school or even by completing an online course.  Depending on your particular circumstances, the choice is up to you.  In order to be able to find a job in the field and to be successful in your dental assistant career, you need to be prepared.  Taking dental assisting courses such as dental office management, scheduling appointments and updating dental records is something that you can learn to do online.  Clinical work, however, is best learned hands-on and includes such topics as dental terminology, anatomy, radiology, anesthesiology and preventive dentistry.  Only you can decide which courses and/or schools work best for you and your job is to select which ones will help you succeed in your overall goals.

Once you have completed training, you will be in demand!  Dental Assisting Jobs are increasing steadily and expect to grow by 29% in the next 7 years.  Working in this field provides years of pleasurable work with varied assignments and steady work schedules.  Dental assistants are well-respected and looked on as role models by many young dental patients.   As your career grows, there are many other opportunities awaiting you.  If you grow tired of clinical work, you can look into becoming an instructor at one of your local community colleges or dental assistant schools.  There are likely local and state dental assistant organizations that are looking for experienced people to oversee their committees and work groups.  Some dental assistants even go on to become dental hygienists or dentists!  A dental assistant career can be yours for the asking.  All it takes is for you to be motivated and willing to seek out the best training you can get.
